Ruchir is a graduate of Direction and Screenplay Writing from FTII, Pune. His mastery lies not just in stories that he tells beautifully, but also the sheer control over the unique form and structure of his films. His diploma film at FTII, ‘Mandrake Mandrake’ won him the Best Film as well as Best Cinematography awards at the National Awards, 2014.

His next short film “5 O’clock Accidents” focused on raising awareness about CSA won him the National Film Award in Special Jury Award/Special Mention (Non-Feature-Film Category)
